Sewer Project Updates

The following is an update from the county as of April 2026

Design Status

A) The design work was started in June 2025 and the overall project design is now at 90% completion

B) The Geotechnical work has been completed and the Geotech Report was issued on February 27th. There were recent settlement issues with the borings in the pavement areas but they have been repaired.

C) Miss Utility Locates – the existing utilities have been marked at various locations all over the neighborhood and we appreciate the patience of the residents during this process. Identifying the existing utilities was necessary before any of the Geotech work could be completed. Furthermore, the survey crews were on site to capture as much of the existing utility information as possible.

D) Please preserve the existing utility markings and flags as best as possible until the end of April when SUE work is completed.

Next Design Step: Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)

A) There is a subsurface utility engineering (SUE) work planned to start on or around April 13th and should last approximately 10+/- days.

B) This is the final “field investigation” work that will take place prior to completing the design.

C) The purpose of this work is to identify as many existing utilities as possible such that there will be fewer delays and utility strikes during construction. Although the Miss Utility work provided some information on existing utilities, there was still a lot of missing information.

D) This work will consist mostly of a 2-man crew in the field working to locate and mark all existing utilities. These utilities will then be surveyed by another crew. There is also planned to be a Vacuum Excavation truck for 1 day – this will look somewhat similar to the drill rig that was used for the Geotechnical work.

Tidewater scope of work – Tidewater is planning to install new water mains and fire hydrants in the neighborhood.

Sewer Project Schedule

A) The project is about 4 months behind the original schedule

B) The county decided it would be in the best interest of the residents to allow Tidewater the opportunity to replace their infrastructure at the same time as the county will be repaving the roads upon project completion.

C) Design completion is expected to be approximately June 2026

D) Bidding – July to September 2026

E) Construction – Approximately December 2026 to December 2027.
